This project began with a blank canvas following a construction of a new build house. We made the pergola a focal point and a wildlife friendly pond at the heart of the garden. We wanted to encourage wildlife to every corner of this garden and three years on, the owners have sighted newts, dragonflies and many birds all using the pond.Â
Design Philosophy
The brief was for a wildlife garden with pollenator friendly plants with a colour pallette of purple, pink and white. A central lawn area unified a somewhat irregluar space that we had to work with. Two pathways weave through the beds inviting you down to the seating area beneath the pergola. Some of the trees needed to be felled, so we repurposed them into stepping stones for the pathways. To reflect the owners's desires to use the garden throughout all the seasons, we have created multiple destination points.
